Conversation between man and woman part 1

"Its a conversation between man and woman, between boldness and fragility"
Stella McCartney SS13

Now. Im not much of an avid "trend follower"but I'd like to think I know a good and lasting trend when I see one. I'd also like to think that having done trendspotting a while back this somehow influenced my choice in which trends I believe are here to stay.

My current favourite is "The Alpha female, It's a boy girl thing, Androgyny" or whatever you prefer to call it. I'm a self confessed tomboy, and have been since I was in Year 5 but I've always been stuck in abit of a rut with the whole "ok Levi you are a girl maybe you should try dressing like one" and being surrounded by all the pretty girls in their little sexy tight dresses probably didn't help, I found myself a bit wierded out by my own reflection in a lets say pretty looking dress, kind of felt like a man in drag and in the end I would end up pulling on something that makes it all look a bit more boyish or just do at least something that didnt make me feel like a child that had been forced to put on a dress by their mother.

The main reason why I love lurve this trend (btw i really really hate the word trend) is for the simple fact that one can a. wear it and no longer feel like their receiving confused glares from people who are wondering if their off to a fancy dress party, b. because it feeds into my love of simplicity and effortless looks and c. because somehow in the magical world of fashion it looks OH SO SEXY!! whether you're wearing a silk cami underneath that empowering saint laurent suit (i wish) or a crop top under your pinstripe power suit a la balenciaga (wishing some more) Everything works! The trick is ladies masculine tailoring vs delicate femininity, or in other words sex up your outfit abit!

And of course designers clocked onto this, some better then others. Stella McCartney amongst the top and even Victoria Beckham (almost) ditched the dresses, had a go and succeeded.

Btw this look is SO good that its following us through into fall 13 this time with extra "man."
